I got this rubber, on my Yasaka Extra Offensive blade, for the purpose of experimenting with short pips after reading a couple of reviews. I'm a penholder and I was previously using Evolution MX-P for FH on Joola Rossi Emotion Cpen blade. So, I thought I might have some difficulty adjusting my FH to a rubber like this. To my suprise, this rubber is so much more easier to play with than I thought. Yes, the looping from forehand is not even close to what I could do with my old rubber (MX-P) and all the other tensors I've used before (Nimbus, Acuda S1 Turbo), but other than that everything else is much better. Pushing, chopping, hitting, driving, placing, all are terrific. Overall, I think I'm playing much better than this one on my FH rather than all the other tensors that I've used. I still manage to play offensively with much less errors. Serves are quite spinny too. I guess I'm gonna stick with this one for a long time.

I am a CPen rpb player for nearly 5 years and I usually try lots of rubbers. But I ONLY prefer 802-40 for forehand . You know why... 1) Receive any kind of service with almost the same racket angle !!! Yeah I mean just a simple push is enough, also it keeps the ball low. Do not worry about the incoming spin . Yes! Try it to Believe it !!!!.2) Precise placement of the shots( total control :) ). - With very less adjustment you can place the ball right where you want. I rate 20 pts for this ( there is no appropriate rating criteria for control in this site. )3) Too spinny for a short pip !!. Never seen this much spin in other short pips.4) Comparatively light weight than other rubbers in this segment.5) Durable & Very cheap !! (This offers the privilege to buy & try different sponge thickness variants like 1.5, 1.8, 2.2 etc.)I am very much satisfied with this rubber and it will be my only choice for forehand EVER !!.

I've been a backside player for the last 15 years, and play with short pips from time to time, for fun. This 802-40 in 2.0mm is really easy to use if you're used to backside : it's quite gripy, can generate quite some spin for a short pips rubber (both on serves and in game), and you can use almost the same strokes as if you were playing with a backside. Really, it's pretty spinny for a short pips, so you can even topspin quite easily. As a consequence, it's not deceptive for the opponent but it allows a good variety of strokes (almost regular backside strokes, and more direct / short-pips strokes as well). Less versatile than a Kokutaku 119 for instance, but easier to use if this is your first short pips rubber (and more inclined toward an offensive game than the 119, I think).

Tested the 802-40 with a custom 0.5mm sponge on the BH of a Juic Exacta Blade (speed=ALL). Nice control, sufficient amount of spin on serving, at least the opponent's can't smash back with ease, able to loop weak back spin ball at close range, low trajectory when blocking/ roll-looping/lifting. Ideal for players who want to start playing pips out rubber.

It's a good rubber. The build quality is good. The durability is equally good.

This is a great rubber. I have it on 729 bomb w skyline 3 neo on forehand. I am able to do everything with this. lots of pace on punches, TONS of spin on chops, and crazy control on serves. Great rubber

One thing that i like from this rubber is it's control, especially to returning serve. Blocking is also perfect but it generate less spin ball. You don't need many energy to hit or smash the ball with this rubber. Chopping away from the table is also easy to do with this rubber.

802 40 mystery ||| I am using this rubber with green 2.15 sponge. ..for backhand ...1 month and day by day the results are amazing. ..adjusting the hitting angle is a killing beast. ..The only problem is that the forhand inverted rubber must not be too tacky ..not more than 4 ... Otherwise your forhand seems to be less speedy specially when your clothes are wet ...

This short pip is awesome. The speed is great and the spin is very good. Although the spin is less than the inverted but I agree with most observations, it is the best rubber if your changing to pips. The rubber is more sensitive to incoming spin but less compared to inverted (except for anti-spin), but this can easily b e overcome by changing the angle. The rubber is on an aralyte carbon blade (c-pen). I can easily do top spin and side spin on this. Serve is superb for a pimple. Block is very good. I had to adjust my angle when blocking and or doing a top spin though but the adjustment is more instinctive and was able to master it less than a hour after my first outing with this rubber. This is a short pip and this is one of the best there is. If you're looking for deception and spin reversal you should consider long pip rubbers.

A fast, aggressive rubber. Works for a one-dimensional bang-bang game. Too spinny for deception.

This SP is everything it is billed to be.Great speed. Honestly when you drive & smash opponents will have a hard time getting it back on the table given the speed and relative lack of spin they're used to.Great control and touch (compared to inverted), spiny (relative to other short pips) if that's what you are looking for.If you are coming form Inverted, this will be the best transition for you. It will be less spiny than any inverted (and that's a good thing. Otherwise you wouldn't be looking at SP) but not so much to where you can't adapt.I really like the balance this rubber brings for me in terms of ability to attack, blocking, touch & control. Great rubber. Great price. Well worth trying it out.I have the 802-40 in 2.0 sponge 35 degrees.

My first short pip since switching over from inverted. Great for quick blocks, flat hits, and smashing. Control is excellent and I can pound the ball exactly where I want it. Keeping my opponent off balance and on the run. I am really happy with my introduction to sp

These short-pips are awesome. Hitherto, my favorite backhand rubber has been Bryce Speed bbecause of its blocking and smashing capabilities. I can loop with just about any rubber with my backhand, but the spin and sensitivity to spin that my rubber had effects my blocking and the ease with which my opponents return my loops. Bryce Speed is not that sensitive to spin and is amazing at blocking (much better than any tenergy) but the loops are not very spinny. I switched to this rubber in 2.2 to amplify my block and smash game on my backhand and still be able to hit an occasional loop when the situation calls for it. I have not been disappointed. For $10 a sheet, it is also an excellent deal. I use a primorac carbon and found the transfer from inverted to short-pips very easy with this rubber. I highly recommend it from anyone thinking about swit! ching from inverted. For the price, you cannot go wrong.

Easy to get accustomed to when transitioning from inverted. Spinny enough to serve with and versatile enough to flip, smash, chop, and block. It is very durable and very inexpensive. Get some!!!!
Review by External review - Posted on 5/3/2012
You can hit with it like you woud inverted, but it has no deception.

i have played with this rubber for three month and its the best rubber ever .faster than tenergy or any other rubber you have ever tried.very hard shots and accurate.just try it.

I find these short pips wonderful. I can block successfully with them, I can produce a bit of spin, and it produces low flat balls when you attack with it. This is the best short pips I have found to date.

Very good, cheap softer sponge spiny pips, you can loop with them pretty well enough. Doesn't have many of the typical benefits of classical short pips in the thick sponged versions, blocks ok but sometimes go long due to springiness, same thing with the serve returns. Is easy to make the jump from inverted to short pips with this though, was my first.

Well this is your regular offensive pips-out rubber with a softer sponge, so expect a little more dwell-time than usual. My only gripe with it is the low throw angle, but then again, pips-out rubbers are supposed to have a low throw-angle, don't they? Besides, I play with pips-out only occasionally and for fun. Oh, and this rubber is truly light, cut to shape it only weighed 28 grams!

This rubber has the fattest pips I have ever seen!! It's pretty good at smashing and taking away from an opponent's spin. I used it on the bh to block, but it can actually flip serves too. I didn't see much deception with the 802-40, maybe an occasional knuckle ball, but nothing like 729-755. Overall, this is a good rubber for blocking, flat hitting and smashing or for someone how wants to see what short pips is all about.

This is one of the spinniest short pips you'll find, so take that as an advantage or disadvantage, depending on your needs for a short pip.

Classic Chinese short pips. It's VERY spinny for a short pip. I can actually generate almost as much spin on serve with it compare to using inverted (presuming that you know HOW to maximize spin capabilities of a rubber on serves). Obviously since it's a SP, the throw angle is very low, and it is more suitable for hitting than looping, but it's spinny enough to loop occasionally. Compared to Spectol, this is even more spinny, so it is still pretty similar to inverted when returning serve. Blocking is exceptional, IMO it is the number one reason to play short pips (if you are a penholder). Overall this is a very fun rubber to use, and it can definitely frustrate some people because the ball always goes back with less spin.

I love this rubber, its a spinny pip so you can drive like a monster with it but still use it for serves. its great at smashing, I just do a wrist motions and it bounces so quick. It unfortunately does react to spin so its not a safe haven but not as much as inverted. You can sortof loop with it but you cant slow loop since its too bouncy.

The best short pips rubber for someone coming from inverted rubber. Very spinny for short pips, can actually loop with it. Conversely, it doesn't have some of the advantages of less spinny pips in blocking, producing dead balls, and hitting through spin. Sponge makes a difference, so pay attention to the sponge that comes with it. Globe 889-2, Juic Patisuma and Dawei 388B-1 along with Hallmark Magic Pips and Dr. N. Tornado Ultra have almost identical topsheets to 802-40.

I love this rubber, its my first short pips, you can realy attack though spin greatly, I no longer fear spinny serves. You can still do spinny serves and loops with it so its nearly a perfect rubber, prety cheap too
